Akakoa, Monday evening. Messrs Bridge and Bushell report a sale of Mr. James Bell's furniture, at Tekau's Bay, on the 17th inst. Prices realised throughout were very satisfactory.

FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Christchurch, Friday Evening. Eye grass seeds, free from mixture of other seeds, and of good colour, commands 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; others sorts, 3s 9d to 4s, according to quality. Dairy produce is in plentiful supply, and steady business is doing in cheese at s£d. Butter, 9d for prime quality ; doubtful parcels are not quotable. Flour, manufactured from a mixture of Adelaide and Canterbury wheats, is quoted at £15; others oats, £14, in sacks; bran, £3 10s ; sharps, £4 10--Hams and bacon are quoted at 9d to 9Jd, with limited stock. The weather during the week has continued fine, and no doubt much good work has besn done in the harvest fields throughout the country. The accounts of the damage by the late rains are rather conflicting, but we are afraid the best that can be said about the matter is that in some instances the damage has not been so great as Avas nt first expected. The stock market continues quiet, but in another month when the fanners begin to buy their stocks of breeding ewes, there will be a large increase in business. At the yards on Wednesday, 2914 sheep were penned, comprising, besides the usual variety, a large number of good tiross-breds which sold up to 12a 9d.. A few pens of merinos, of medium quality, sold at from 7s to 7s 6d each. Fat lambs of best quality made up to 8s Gd. Our quotation for mutton for the week is lfd per lb. ■ The number of cattle yarded was 492, including some nice quality fat cattle, the bulk of which sold at an average of 27 s 6d per lOOlbs. One of the pens not reaching the owner's valuation, was withdrawn. The stores commandedfull rates, yearlings tjelling at £4 12s 6d to £4 16s 6d. Three to four-year old steers and heifers, from £7 to £8 each. The land sales on Thursday amounted to 3716 acres, as follows: —Selwyn 1137, Ashbiirton, 2549, Geraldine,lUo realising £7572.
