Chbistciiuijch, Thursday Evening. Messrs H. Matson and Co. report on the Live Stock Market, &c, for the week ending Friday, February 9, 1877, as follows : Inconsequence of the severe wsather during the past week very little has been done in the Live Stock Market. The late rain must be deplored as a great calamity, as without doubt the damage done is very f-v-ri'nis to the interests of the whole community, and we look for hard times for many who would otherwise have been in comparative affluence. We can only hope tht't the damage done is not so bad as reported. At the Yards on Wednesday fliers were only 29 cattle and 3595 sheep penned off lor sale. Fat sheep sold well at an advance of Is per head upon previous rates. This is accounted for by the small supply to hand for the day. We sold the Mount Harding merino wethers at 7s Ccl to 8s per head ; other merinos at 6s 9d ; and cross-bred; 2-tooths 8s to 9s 6d par heads ; lambs, 7s 6d. We offered no cattle; the small number to hand were sold privately outside. We have sold a line of GOOO do., and 4000 merino wethers, all i'or South, at market quotations. We quote 2-tooth cross-breds, fair quality, at 7s (.M to 8s per head ; merino wethers, goiu), 4s to 4s 6d ; merino ewes, 2s Gd to 3.s 'M per head ; cross-bred Limbs, 6s to 7s per head, deducting Is per head for inferior descriptions. \Vool, sheepskins, hides, &<_,. —At our sale on Thursday last only a limited supply came to hand, the inclemency of the weather having the effect of rerhfing values slightly. Best cross-bred Pali's brought 3s 9d ; best lambs, 3s ; best merinos, Is lid; country skins, at for pelt-;, Id to 8d each ; woolly do, 5s ; salted hides. 3fd per lb ; green, not sold ; calf, Gd per lb ; rough fat, 2-A-d per lb.
