ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.

[We are at alljfcimes ready to give expression to every shade of opinion, but in no case do we hold ourselves responsible for the sentiments of our correspondents.] **TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAEOA MAIL. Sic, —Curious things are said in R. M. Courts occasionally, especially in Akaroa. I allude to the case, Okain's Road Board v. Thacker. It is laughable to read the report of the above case, which appeared in your issue of the 30th ult. I wish the above mentioned gentleman would answer the following questions:— 1. Is it envy, hatred, and malice that deters the Okain's Road Board from fulfilling its functions as the Local Board of Health, and praventing Mr. Thacker from turning the creek of Okain's into a cesspool, and poisoning it with his mill sawdust? 2. Is it envy, hatred, and malice, that allow Mr. Thacker to monopolise two public thoroughfares with his sheepshearing pens ? 3. Is it the three above mentioned virtues which permit him to make sush libelous statements in an open court, without Tin action for libel being brought against him? I would very much like the preceding questions answered, for it is my private gpinion, that the unpleasant and ungentlemanly Board in question take no notice of what he stated, (and like everybody else who knows him), putting it down to his ignorance and obstinancy, as the man did when the donkey kicked him," thinks it unworthy of notice. I am, &c, Envy, Hatred, Malice, and all Unchabitableness.
