We have been favoured with an inspection of a series of most beautiful photographs, of Akaroa, and the surrounding districts, which were taken by Mr. D. L. Mundy some years since. It is not too much to say that for artistic effect and beauty of execution these photographic gems are quite unsurpassable, and we have no doubt many persons will avail themselves of the opportunity of procuring copies, which can be had from Messrs. Wood Bros. ; Mr. Mimdy has just returned from a two years residence in England, where he had the honour of exhibiting, by Royal command, his photographs of New Zanland, shown by lime-light apparatu3 before the Royal Family. The Emperor of Austria conferred on Mr. Mundify. the Imperial Gold Medal for science and art, and the Royal Geographical Society elected him F.R.G.S., in recognition of his services as a traveller and author of the work " Rotoinahana and the Boiling Springs of New Zealand." Mr Mundy is the sole representative for the Autotype patent process of reproducing photographs, some specimens of these beautiful works of art can also be seen at Messrs. Wood Bros. As won as Mr. Mund#y. has delivered his lecture entitled " Southern Wonderland " illustrated by Dioraniic pictures in Christchurcb. it is his intention to visit Akaroa with a view to giving his exhibition here, and as this lecture and diorama had a five months run at the Royal I'olytecnic, Regent-street, London, we may look to an ,-:.rtistic and literary treat.
