Owing to some unexplained reason, our Wellington agent failed to transmit our usual telegrams last evening. Another change in the management of our local post-office has just taken place, Mr. J, C. Tregear, avlio for some months past efficiently and satisfactorily discharged the duties of postmaster, having been transferred to the Christchurch Office. Mr. F. Y. Stratton, late of the chief office, has been appointed to the charge of the Akaroa office. Mr. Tregear left by coach on Friday morning last, and we can safely say that his urbane and obliging disposition has earned for him the good-Avill of all whom he Avas in any way brought in contact Avith. We trust that the change may prove to his adA'antage. An adjourned meeting of all persons favourable to the formation of a Benevolent Society in Akaroa is advertised to take place this evening, at Beecher's Hotel, at 8 p : m.
