Cullen said that if the request were complied with, the Council would not be justified in withholding the room from any other section of the public who thought fit to apply for its use. The Mayor was of opinion that it would be well to take into consideration the safety of the Council's furniture and stationery, which had cost a large sum, before going further into the matter. v Cr. Penlington held that every application should be treated on its merits. He would object to its being made a rule, if Mr. Inwood's request were complied with. Mr. Annand objected to the room being used for such purposes under any consideration Cr. Waeckerle did not believe in making a distinction between Peter and Ptul. If the Council granted the use of the room to Mr. Inwood, he held that any other ratepayer would be equally entitled to the room as that gentleman. The Mayor remarked that it would not be establishing a rule, if Mr. Inwood's request was granted. Cr.
