" ' Christchurch. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. Grass seed is now being offered in large parcels, and farmers ask 4s. in Christchurch forhest samples of rye, but buyers are disinclined to operate freely'-at this rate in , the face of the large crops. Butter and cheese meet with little outside inquiry, and . prices are about as last quotations. Buyers' quotations are :—Wheat, nominal; barley nominal; oats, 2s ; rye grnss, 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; cheese, 5d to s£d ; butter,. 9d. Millars' quotations are : —Flour, £16 in sacks ; £18 ; bran, £5 ; sharps„£G. &t the yards, on Wednesday, the number of slieep and : cattle brought forward was insignificant,'there'being only 1299 of the former, arid 138 of the latter. The attendance of people- was also very limited. In sheep,, the rate. for good quality was equal to 2d per lb. Best lambs made 9s ; inferior do, 6s. There is still a good demand for store sheep, the grass being very plentiful. The little business clone in cattle disclosed no change, beef commanding about 275. 6d. per 1001b. Store cattle in brisk demand.
