We will briefly epitomise1 such particulars as we believe reliable. The eldest daughter heard a dispute betweenher mother arid a native from the Kavvau..(about 20 miles below the Kaipara, Heads,) and witnessed the murder. Escaping with the youngest child, .she hastened to Auckland, and gave information; accompanied by Mr Fox, native minister, the chief Paul, and a party of the Naval Brigade, she. was taken to the Kawau, where she afc once pointed out the murderer-, wlto was convej'ed to Auckland. We hear from town that our friends, believing it to be the commencement of hostilities in the north were greatly alarmed for pur safety, but we may say'that no fear existed withus, and we have every confidence,in our.qwn Maoris. / -
