We beg leave respectfully to call the attention of the officers commanding the naval and military forces in Auckland, to the very exuberant spirits of their men—Our streets unquestionably do not exhibit that appearance which should belong to the dwelling places of any civilized people. We should be very unwilling to say one unkind word of the brave fellows who have been fighting our battles, and who have earned their season of furlough and of frolic at so much risk —but it is absolutely necessary for their own sakes as well as for our quiet, that some discretion should be observed -that discipline and order be not entirely lost sight of. — Verb. sup. sat.
