Redundancy of musical Talent.— W T ithin the last few weeks the situation of organist of St. Stephen's Colemanstreet, has become vacant, and on Monday last the period expired for candidates to send iu their testimonials, when, to the astonishment of the Committee, consisting of the vicar, the church warders, and three parishioners, assisted by an eminent professional gentleman, no fewer than sixty candidates sent in testimonials; aiklasthe Committee c< u'd not decide without a practical illustration, the church of St. Stephen's has rung from morning to nigiit with a concord of sweet sounds, each candidate being allowed twenty minutes to perform on the organ. Several of the performers are men of first-rate talent This number is ultimately to be reduced to six, and to perform consecutively for the ensuing six Sundays, after which the selection is to be made. The situation is worth forty guineas per year, and the duties to be performed for this money are two services for every Sunday. Between forty and fifty of the candidates have undergone the trial.— Morning Post.
