The public will read with much interest the proceedings of the Council on Saturday last. Although the Governor is not yet pledged to the adoption of the memorial scouting Lord Stanley's Act, we have little doubt we shall find him, next Saturday, in a gentlemanly way, giving his Dissent to the " ginger bread Act, we have so often al'uded to. The absurd supposition that a man should pay a tax of 20s. per acre for taking possession of the Almighty's Providence, will now we trust be done away with for once and for ever.
