The Moa, from Sydney, with dates to the 7th, has not put us in possession of any important news. The English August mail had not arrived; we may expect it by the Sarah, which was again on the berth for Auckland. The Nelson diggings have created quite a furor amongst the Sydney people; several vessels are advertised direct.
Arrivals in Sydney have brought news from the States to July sth. The fourth •of July, the “ Independence Anniversary Day,” brought about riots at New York Between two political factions, in which many were killed, and more seriously injured. There is nothing in our exchanges calling for further notice.
