HOLMES’ HEIFER.

A few days since our citizens were gratified by seeing one of the" finest heifers hitherto bred in this province. The head of the animal was gaily decorated with ribbons many colored as a rainbow. It would have appeared to advantage at an English Agricultural Cattle Show. Indeed, we never saw a finer animal “ after its kind,” though we have seen heifers much larger. The one that went, or rather - rushed, so wildly to and fro’ in our streets on last Wednesday week was less remarkable on account of its vast size than on account of its splendid condition and buffalo-like fierceness. We are informed that it is the property of Mr. Holmes a Butcher in Queen-street, whose all-in-the-way-of-business demonstration will no doubt add to his already high reputation as a business man, and must, at least, make obvious to every Auckland eye the difference between a Living Heifer and a Dead Cow.
