CIVILIANS AND THE MILITARY.
(To the Editor of the “Auckland Examiner.”]
Str, —Being- under the impression that in this city a Civilian Baud has been formed for the purpose of providing music for all qpcasions, and understanding that great pains have been taken by their leader to make it efficient, we cannot understand why the military are permitted to interfere, and thus hinder the members of that band from earning a livelinood. In former times, before this band was-established, it was a matter of great difficulty to procure the serxices of the military, hut now it seems those services can be had by anybody aud at any time. The want of consistency in ovr military authorities is really deploreble. By inserting the above in the Examiner, you will oblige A few Citizens, Feb. 24, J? 57.
