William Denny brought Mail of the Steam Ship European, which left England on the 14th of December. She arrived in Melbourne after a passage of 57 days, including detention for four days at St. Vincent, and the mail reached Sydney two days teforc the Denny left—which was on the evening of Tuesday, the 18th February,— so that, by means of steam communication, we have already news under 70 days. Parliament was still out of session—fashionable people out of town, and not only political but general affairs extremely dull. The journals contain nothing which ©tills for republication or immediate attention.
