Clyde Notes.

(Occasional Correspondent). The holidays have been very quiet here again as usual, no enjoyment whatever excepting a few picnics. .We are having very hot weather here now, and everything is completely burnt up for the want of rain, which will be very welcome when it does come. I hear that it was 96deg. in the shade on Saturday. A fire occurred on Saturday last at the farm of Mrs Holden's, on the Clyde-Oromwell road, by which two haystacks and part of an oatstack were destroyed. It will be remembered that Mis Folden was unfortunate enough in having her dwelling house destroyed a few months back. The return match between Olyde and Ophir was played, at Ophir on Saturday last, and was won. by the former. Scores: Olyde, 103; Ophir, 6«. MIMING. TheMatau has pulled out .of Muttontown Gully, and is now taking up a cut on the west side of the river with satisfactory results. The Unity is still idle, waiting for a favourable river. Some prospectors have- pegged off a reef on the Old Man Range above Blackman's Gully. ' The I*)ch Lomond^dredge, on the Upper Eraser, has" resumed work again, She is at present on payable ground, Jt is a pity to soe rgh» I)avis send No 2 lying idle, when good gold is known to exist in the claim, This dredge done no work last season. ■'.
