In consequence of heavy rain at the lakes, the river rose rapidly on Tuesday, <mi lass evening the height at * the MemTyfrm bridge was 10|ft. Messrs link and party hive parchased the Coronation Co's dredge, on tiie MaariierikMi and are at present engaged in getting lier in readiness to start dredging. An addition of 12ft is to be pat into the ladder, and other necessary repairs effected. Operations wiQ probably be resumed in about a fortnight, when we hope the enterprising party will be amply rewarded. The Chicago Co's dredge (late Biver Molyneux) is at present being taken np Stream to the company's chum under "the charge of Captain Kennedy. When she resumes work ou her new claim, the lucky shareholders should be well compensated. We would remind our readers of the important sale of dredging material, etc., which takes place at Kawaxau Gorge on Wednesday next. Messrs Park Beynolds and Co, will conduct the sab,. The Sandy Point ia working very steadily since the holidays, and washed opt last week for the satisfactory return of 590z. _ The Golden Beach lost a little time last week, and the manager expects that this week's return will be better than last.
