A Missing Clergyman.

Westport, Nov. 28th, The Rev. Mr Goldsmith, Anglican minister at Granity, has been missing since last Thursday, Search parties, were out all yesterday without finding 1 any trace of him. It is feared that he ! got into the surf and has been drowned Mr Goldsmith was last seen about 10 a.m., on Thursday, When he did not appear at Church yesterday morning several of the congregation imagined he had perhaps made a mistake in his services, and gone to Charleston to hold service there, and rang up the Rev. Mr Dart, who immediately made inquiries and ascertained that Mr Goldsmith had not been seen at Westport

or Charleston. A visit was then made to his house, and his watch and bicycle were found there. It is surmised that he went for a bathe on the beach, and was carried out to sea by the back current. Mr Goldsmith arrived in this district in January last from Napier, where his parents live. His mother has just suffered a stroke of paralysis. The search for the Rev. Mr Goldsmith has so far been unavailing. It is suggested that he may be lost in the bush, as he was an enthusiastic botanist.
