Mr Bert Saunders, manager of the Matau dredge, leaves shortly for Malay States, where he has received an appointment on a dredge. The River Molyneux dredge (recently purchased by the First Chance Company) is being slowly but surely taken up the river to the bridge, under the capable guidance of Mr Sam JJoy. She i 8 at present in the vicinity of the Davis Bend claim. Mr Geo. R. M'Gr gor, who has for gome years been in charge of the Enterprise No 2 dredge, has received an appointment as master of a dredge on the River Irriwady, in-Upper Barman. Mr M'Gregor leavei shortly for his new sphen °* labour, Mr George flymons, of Alexandra, accompanies Mr M'Gregor. The Molyneux Hydraulic stopped at the middle of last week to allow of some necessary repairs being effected. There was, consequently, no wash up on Saturday. The dredge will probably resume work on Monday next, The Chicago dredge had to stop last week owing to the rise in the river. Owing to the pressure of liabilities the directors of the Stafford-Waimea dredge have decided to close the dredge down pending reconstruction, which « we' understand, practically assured. Taking advantage of the high state of the river, the Dunstan Lead dredge has been dropped to the lower end of the claim, where a piece of payable tjround was left. The dredgemaster and crew are at present engaged raising the Cairnteodhe dredge, which sunk some time
