Poetry.
PERCHANCE. Perchance some day, when twilight-tide has crept Across the fens and widening willow-ways, Yoa will recall those days when passion •l»pt Unwakened by the kiss that thrills and ■lays : You will look forth across the northern sea And hear its thunder beating towards the bay, And think of all our love that used to be, Perchance some day.
Perchance soma day, when slowly in the east The dim, drear dawn is breaking and the hum Of busy feet is hushed—of me, the least Of all your lovers, hallowed thoughts will come. And I shall dream, and see you—eyes that yearn Will gaze in yours —our hands will olasp and stay. And so by spirit-paths you will return To me —some day. —Walter Thackwbll.
