Mr*. Laura Hankmsa at well-to-do woman of this city, buried a pes aog the other day, says the Richmond (Va.) correspondent of the New, Vork Sun. She intended to bury the animal beside her father's grave in th# family square in OakwootL but the funeral procession was stopped at the gate and the authorities refused to permit the burial of a dog in the grounds. Mrs. Hankins at onoe purchased the lot outside the cemetery wali, t,nd with the assistance of a wellknown undertaker and several carriage loads of sympathizing friends buried the little six-pound terrier. The dog died several months ago it Long Branch and was buried in a zinc box. When Mrs. Hankins referred she was inconsolable and decided to have the terrier's remains removed here and buried by tfcti »ide of her father. The undertaker met the remains, which came hy express, but the complete arrangements for an elaborate funeral were vgset by the cemetery officials, only •»'v be carried out this morning with vlded interest.
