Caledonian Society.
The annual meeting of the Alexandra Caledonian Society was held at the Bendigo Hotel on the 7th inSt, There was a good attendance of members, and Mr J. G. Gloss was voted to the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The secretary read a statement of receipts and expenditure, showing a credit balance of .£8 18s 2d. It was resolved that the next annual gathering be held on New Year's Dav 1905. y The following office-bearers were appointed for the ensuing yearChieftain, Mr W Nicholson ; president, Mr C E Richards; vice-presidents! Messrs W Eraser, E Bellamy, R Ross. A Budd, A Gunn, ' J G Oloss, W A Theyers, G M'Gregor, and W S Laidlaw ; secretary, Mr L Ryan, It was resolved that all present at the meeting be appointed a committee, power to add. —Starter, Mr J R Oaims; handicap' " pers, Messrs Bicbards, F King, arid ' Bu:ld; timekeeper, Mr R Strong;judges of tunning, Me-srs Closs, Bellamy, Laidl=h\v, and Oa'der; judges of wrestling, Messrs H Tohill, L Anderson, and G Poulter; judges of stone and hammer, Messrs M Scott and 0 Theyers; judges of high jump and vaulting, Messrs Simonsen, Pollock, and Travers ; judges of boys' wrestling, Messrs Tohill. Anderson, and Poulter; programme committee. Messrs Budd, Theyers, Kirker, Nicholson, Oaims, Buchanar., Ryan, M'Oregor, and R Ross; concert committee, Messrs Briasco, Gullie, aud Cairns; ground committee, Messrs . Munday, Pocock, Arnott, 4shworth, M'Queen; Oarr, West, O'Kane, Bartholomew, Murray, Lis. Isiciiolson, Nioper, Bringans, King and Simonsen. The matter of arranging for the judging of bagpipe music and dancing was left in the hands of Messrs Theyers and Cameron.
The work of organising the boys' and girls' events ar, the sports was left in the hands of Mr S. Cameron.. It was decided on the motion of Mr Laidlaw, seconded by Mr Theyers, that pony races be eliminated from future progammes; and that it be a recommendation to the programme committee to include bicycle events. Messrs a Cottrell and Buchanan were appointed judges of the cycling events. The membership fee "was fixed at 7s 6d. Messrs Theyers, Ryan, Oalder, and Ross were appointed collectors. It was resolved that the Alexandra Brass Band be asked to play at the sports on the same terms as last year ; and that the matter of arranging for bagpipe music be left to the Chieftain. Resolved—That the printing and advertising be given to the ALEXANDRA Herald. The meeting then adjourned till Thursday, 20th inst.
