I A very pleasing function took place I at the Criterion Hotel, Alexandra, on Wednesday evening of last week, when about 30 of our leading citizens met t&; bid farewell to Mr Adam McDonald(driver of Craig and Oo.'s mail coach) on the occasion of his last trip to Alexandra. The Mayor (Mr Geo Spencer) occupied the chair and, in the course of a neat speech, he highly eulogised Mr McDonald's capabilities as a " Knight of the Ribbons." Mr McDonald had been driving the Roxburgh-Alexandra coach, and later on, the Ida ValleyAlexandra coach, for a great number of years; and he (the speaker) among many others present, could testify not only to "Adam's" skill as a driver, ;i but also to his unfailing courtesy and<cOh--sideration for those travelling with him, Mr McDonald-..wasv especially considerate and Ipkjiient.. ladies and children were travelling/" and he (thespeaker) desired to con/fey ..to him, the thanks of the public' *s kindnesses he had &>n, behalf of the he asked Mr M^o^M^M^M^k <s a gold as a small too:%6i^^^ which he wa'B^la\VJ4'.
