Arbor Day.

It will be scarcely necessary to re<- j mind our readers r that Arbor Day will be celebrated in Alexandra to-day (Thursday), and that a close holiday will be observed for the occasion. Citizens who are able to wield a spade are requested to attend at 9.30 a.m. to prepare the ground for the trees; and at 2 o'clock in the afternoon the ceremony will be proceeded with after an introductory speech by the President (Dr Gregg). We feel sure the public will roll up in large numbers and, if only by their presence encourage the members in ■• the good woik they have taken in hand. The Brass Band will be present and, given a fine day, the afternoon should be spent pleasantly and profitably.
