By the courtesy of the Colonial secretary we have been favoured "with a copy of the much-talked-of book by (J W M'Murran, of New York City, descriptive of New Zealand's scenery and tourist resorts. The vork, which is issued from the Government Printing Office, is entitled, " New York to * epr Zealand, or The Century Trip," and. la wtr» tensively illustrated. The object for whiob. the book was published is explained..b£ Sir Robert Stout in the preface, wherein he states, inter alia, that Mr M'Murran is -a native and citizen of the United States, and has undertaken to bring the colony of sf>V Zealand under the notice. of his fel'QW country. Notwithstanding the laudablp desire of the author, he can scaroely b« complimented on his originality, as a gr«at portion of the book consists of extracts from the guide-book, whioh Mr Mf&'urran •f heartily endorses."
