It was pointed out that, with the assistance of the road-grader, a. con** siderable saving would be made in the formation of streets in the town. Before the meeting closed, Or propounded a scheme in connection with the Borough endowment, He said that he was informed by com* pefcent judges that, with land comprised in the endowfa|i*t(c?»;f 500 acres in extent) was well ' mh-u for cultivation. It was desirably in the interest of the whole community, that every encouragement should be offered to intending settlers. After some discussion, in which several councillors supported Or Gregg's views, it was resolved thai the Mayor, Ors Gregg, Schaumann, and Buchanan be appointed a sub»commit« tee to make fuller inquiries and report on the proposed scheme to the aesfc meeting of the Oouccil.
