Not very long ago there waa a muchfrequented inn in the Lnice District called ‘ The Cock.’ The Bishop of Lkndaffl was a frequent lodger, and in compliment to ite right reverend patron the came of the house was changed by the landlord to ‘ The Bishop of Llandafl.’ But boob another ian sprang .np in opposition to it, and annexed the old lucrative eignjjf ' The : Cock.’ Thereupon the landlord of the originaji. inn, fearing a loss of custom, devised a new sign, and set it up. thei top was . LandaS.’ Then camc a portrait of the Bishop, and underneath waa printed, ‘This is the old Cock.*
