MINING NEWS.
The river has fallen a few inches daring the week, the height kit evening being 4ft Sin above the ' normal* mark at the bridge.—Rain commenced Calling last night, however, and a rise in the river is not improbable. The Moa dredge commenced work on Monday, at the lower end of Italian Bend.
The First Chance dredge returned work on Monday morning last at the point where dredging was discontinued. So far, the drift is not giving much trouble,
The New Beudigo dredge also resumed dredging at the beginning of the week.
Mr T. M'Math, erstwhile dredgemaster of the 'Bendigo dredge and latterly engineer on the Ngapara Extended dredge, left Alexandra at the beginning of the week, to assume an important position for a dredging syndicate, on the Offin River, West Africa.
