According to a local tradition rn this site, which was formerly cr«sa - by a great Roman way, many ee:«turies ago an important city s-l"i -' of whirh the ruins still exist, tfcnnsr-j crowded and crushed under the ear;, long ago by wood cutters and ex> a *ators. This tradition attributes to thiburied city the name of Scrgy. It is probable that these tombs are n the only relics in this place, and that ft well-condudcted search would rertal an entire cemetery, whose extent would give an idea of the importance of the buried city. fc
