GIANTS' GRAVES.

The cairns or giant graves at Bosau, near Eatin, are being exeayated under the direction of Professor Knorr, of the Kiel Museum of Antiquities. Oao grave has already been opened up, in which tiro urns and a gold bracelet, 12 centimetres in length, were found. A stone grave 3 metres long and a 370 centimetres wide, containing a skeleton supposed to be 8000 years old, was also laid bare. The work is to be continued, as it is supposed that an ancient cemetery or place of Bacrifioe existed there formerly.

THE CHANGE WAS VERT SUDDEN. Two commercial travellers mat in a Melbourne hotel, one from Chicago, the other from London. After a while the conversation drifted on to the climatic conditions of their respective countries. The Londoner said that the climate in his country was all right, with the exception of one fault, and that was the suddeneaß in the changes of weather. He said he might take a walk one day clad in summer costume, and the next day he would probably have to put a coat and muffler on, to keep out the cold east wind.

' That's nothing,' said the Chicago man. ' I will give you an instance of the weather changes in our country. 'Two friends of mine were once arguing a political question in the suburbs of Chicago. There was snow on the ground at the time. The discussion got rather heated, and one of my friends picked up a snowball and threw it at the other Just then, however, the weather made a sudden change, and instead of being hit with a snowball, he waa-er—er—EC tided with hot water,'
