Borough Council.
The ordinary meeting of tbe Alexandra Borough Council was held on Monday evening last, when there were present—His Worship the Mayor (Mr Jas. Kelman), Crs Schaumann, Ryan, Anderson, M'Math, and Appleton. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The outward correspondence wad read and approved J Inward correspondence was read and dealt with as follows :
—From Mr W. H, Kilgoar, asking if the Council would have any objection to the granting of a residence area to him near the Manuherikia road.
On the motion of Cr Appleton, seconded by Or Anderson, it was resolved that the Council would not object to the granting of a residence area to Mr Kilgour provided the fence did not come within 10 feet of the Borough race. —From Mrs H. Brown, enclosing copy of an application for a residence area.
Resolved—That the Council offer no objection to the granting of the residence area referred to provided, the ground does not encroach on any road.
—From Mr P. Campbell, asking per« mission to quarry stone on the reserve behind the town, facing the Manu* herikia River.
It was resolved that the application be granted, provided due precations are taken when blasting operations are being carried on. —From Mr Bartholomew, enclosing; a memo, of Dr Ogston's expenses (£3 3s) in connection with the recent court case.
It was resolved that the amount bs passed for payment. —From Mr Bartholomew, stating that the title of the Borough water race was in the name of Mr Theyersp and suggesting that the license should be transferred to the Corporation.
It was resolved that the title be transferred to the Corporation. —From Mr Bartholomew, with advice regarding the agreement with th» Molyneux Hydraulic Company.
Moved by Cr M'Math, seconded by *Or Schaumann, and carried—That Org Schaumann, Appleton, Andersou, and M'Math be appainted a committee to wait on Molyneux Hydraulic pany re water supply. ',[■§ |.'.- - r —From Mr J. E. Thompson, apftig that the water be laid on to Mis section.
Resolved—That the Works Committee visit the ground, and ascertain the best means of supplying Mr Thompson with water. —From the Department of Education, advising that a subsidy of £lO lis had been granted to the Alexandra Library.
Resolved—That the matter of marking fire-plugs be left to Cr Anderson.
It was decided that the' Borough amalgamate with the Municipal Association of New Zealand.
Moved by Or M'Math, soconded by Or Appleton and carried—That all persons using water from the mains without a tap be cut off from supply without further notice.
Or Appleton's offer to remove dead trees from the recreation reserve was accepted. The statement of balances showed a total debit balance at bank of £5Bl 9s lOd.
The following accounts were passed for payment:-—O. M c lntosh,ss; A. L, Boldero, £1 ss; B Appleton, £1; W Bowler, £1 2d; Booth, Macdonald an# Co., £2l 10s ; Central Otago Hospital Board, £l4 13s 8d ; J Powlesland, £0 8s; E J Terry, £36; wages (repairing race), £6O lis 6d. The Council then rose.
