Shakespeare Club.
A meeting of those interested in the formation of a Shakespeare Club was held in Mr OE Richards's office ; on Friday evening last. There a dozen ladies and gentlemen present, and the meeting was a most enthusiastic one. Mr J G Gloss was voted to the chair, On the motion of Mr Richards, seconded by Mt Thompson, it was resolved that a club be formed, to be cal'ed the Alexandra Shakespeare 01ub t for the purpose of studying the poet's works and the improvement of reading aloud. The following office-bearers were elected :—President, Rev, J. Mackie; vice-president, Mr J G Gloss; secretary and treasurer, Mr A Budd; auditor, Mr C E Richards; committee, Miss Paul, Miss Cameron, and Messrs Bartholomew and Williams. It was resolved that the reading membership fee be 2s 6d, and the hono* rary membership ss, the holders of each to be entitled to three free passes for friends, It was further decided that the firsb working meeting be held on Thursday, 25ih inst., and thenoeforwurd oh alternate Thursdays; and that the Club takes up for its first reading the play of "Macbeth." A vote of thanks to the chairman" concluded the meeting.
