Hospital Sunday.

The members of the Alexandra' Brass Band have originated the happy idea of holding, in Clyde and Alexr andra, an •« Hospital Sunday," on lines similar to what is customary in larger centres. It is intended to make the event an annually recurring one, and the first celebration thereof will be held at Alexandra on Sunday next. The Alexandra Rifles will also parade, and after a short open-air service by the Rev Mr Fitchett, the Band will contribute a programme of sacred selections. During the afternoon, a collection will be taken up on behalf of the funds of the Dunstan Hospital, the financial needs of which will, we think, appeal with due force to the charitable instincts of the public, for it must be universally admitted that the hospital 18 s an institution that is entitled to the heartiest support that can be accorded to it. We might ppint out that at the present time the hospital is really in need of financial assistance, and the smallest contribution towards so worthy a cause will be thankfully received. It may further be pointed out that contributions to the hospital fund-are subsidised by Government to the extent of JBl. 4s for every pound contributed'; so that every sovereign subscribed means a contribution to the hospital of JB2 4s. r
