Fire Brigade.
The usual monthly meeting of the Alexandra Fire Brigade was held in the Library on Tuesday evening, Ist inst, Captain O'Kane presiding. There was a fair attendance of members, The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. ]; On the motion of Fireman Anderson, seconded by Fireman Ashworth, Fireman Clare was granted one month's leave of absence.'"-—'-' - The question,ofattendance at parades was then discussed, and it was unanimously resolved, that in view of the difficulty experienced in compelling the members to attend it would be advisable to havs each member sworn in, I and it was decided to ask the Mayor to jdoso on Monday, the 7th inst, after; practice;j7' ; V^*""- ■"■"••' ,~X.'.' : , position . of secretary be honorary, and that the previous minute granting him an allowance -- It was •decided- to notify those members who have been irregular in attendance that if they absent themselves without leave the rules will be enforced. ■ '"':.y':l'.- ?*•'- --■■"• te-*-&?#**• The following appointments were made:—Foreman of the reel, 'Fireman J 0 Smith; first brahchman, Fireman L Anderson; second branchman, Fireman H Olsen; first hydrant, Fireman F- King ;second hydrant, Fireman J Travis; pioneers, Fireman Fink and Secretary Young. Resolved—That Mr Briasco be asked to take in hand the arrangement of an entertainment for the Brigade's Uniform Fund, and that any assistance he requires from the Brigade would be at his disposal, j - ■. -,. ■ customary compliment to the chairman terminated the meeting.
