It was resolved that, if sufficient l|in pipes are available, the service be continued along to the section referred to. —From Mr G. L. Outhbertson, engineer Vincent County Council, requesting that the Borough attend to the culvert over the race at Younghill Creek, which was in a dangerous state. : The town clerk stated that he had replied to the letter, to the effect that the ctilvert was erected without the consent of the Borough Council, who decline to maintain it. It was resolved that the town clerk's action be approved of, —From Messrs Booth, Macdonald and Co., Christchurch, stating that they were in receipt of the Borough's order for a fire-bell and tower, which would be sent along at once. —From Messrs Marslin and Hastings asking that they be allowed to connect with the main with a 1-inch, for the purpose of providing motive power. On the motion of Or Ryan, seconded by Or Buchanan, it was resolved that the request be granted on the usual terms. —From Mr R. Ross, on behalf of the Alexandra Lead Dredging Company,, asking on what terms the Council would be prepared to lease the Borough rece. It was resolved that the committee already appointed report to next meeting on matters in connection with aplications for water from the Borough race. —From Ohow Kee, asking permission to let off fireworks. Resolved—That Ohow Kee's application be granted. —From W Fawcett, re gaps in town race cut by Mr R Lewis Resolved that Mr R Lewis be in* formed that the gaps cut in the town race be filled and a pipe put in. Moved by Or Laidlaw—That the town clerk be authorised to .use his own discretion in shuting down the valve to conserve the water in case of storm, and that the fire brigade be notified of it and where the key is kept, and that the water be turned on at times to be notified on the board or in the paper.—Seconded by Cr Buchanan and carried: Or Anderson moved, and Or Buchanan seconded—That the Works Committee be empowered to have Mullingar street put in order, — Carried. Ors Schaumann, Spencer, Anderson, and Ryan reported having visited the. town race to find out the damage done by the recent thunderstorm, and stated that the cost of cleaning and repaincg the race would probably be about .£BO. Or Appleton gave notice to move at next meeting—" That the Council charge a fair price per head for any water landed here whether for the Molyneux Hydraulic Company, outside the periods stated in their agreement, or any one else. Cr Anderson moved—That the matter of repairing the race be left over till next meeting, the raceman to go on cleaning it out.—Seconded by ,0r Schaumann and carried. The statement of balances was read as follows:—Dr Waterworks Loan Account, £915 3s 2d; Dr General Account, £651 15s 2d; Dr Library Account, 13s 7d; Cr Interest Account, £350 10s 4d; Cr Charities Account, Cr Cemetery Account, £56 6s sd; total indebtedness, £1047 18s 4d. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the proceedings.
