Alexandra Caledonian Society.

A meeting of the above Society was held in the Bendigo Hotel on Monday evening last, when the Chieftain (Mr W 0 Nicholson) presided. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The secretary reported that after all accounts were paid there would be a small credit balance, as the result of of the gathering. The revenue plowed a considerable increase in nominations as compared with previous years, at also did the membership list; but this,J was somewhat counterbalanced by the 'm comparatively small sum received thin '' year for the refreshment booth and fruit-stall privileges. Several accounts in connection with the gathering were passed for pay* ment. Several of those present spoke in highly complimentary terms of the work done by the handicappers (Messrs W 0 Nicholson, G E Richards, and A Budd), and of the excellent judgment they displayed in handicapping the several events, as was evidenced by the many close finishes.
