The following business of local interest was transacted at last week's meeting of the Waste Lands Board:— S T Spain wrote objecting to a license being granted to F McCarthy over section 1, blocks, Leaning Bock district, mining reserve. A petition was also received from nine residents of the locality against the granting of the license. As the grant to M'Carthy had been made on the recommendation of Stock Inspector. Taylor, the letter and petition were referred tc him, James Percy applied for an occupation lease, under "The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act 1894," over 100 acres in block vn, Lauder district. —To forward application in the usual way. Ranger O'Neill forwarded valuation of improvements on sections 61 and 64, block x, Leaning Bock district, Eunscleugh Settlement.—Sections to offered burdened with valuation for improvements £ll 19s. John Ewing, on behalf of John Mellor, wrote objecting to the reduced area granted him under occupation lease on Run No 223, Lauder district, and also to the lental fixed.—Bent to be 9d per acre; area to remain as previously granted.
