Valedictory.
On Wednesday evening of last week, Mr W Oarson (who has been manager of the Alexandra Goal Go's mine: for the past 3| years, and who has accepted a responsible position at Kaitangata) was met at Mr Hesson's boarding-house by the employees oS the company, when he was made the recipient ot a souvenir, in recognition, of the esteem in which he was held by those engaged in the mine. The presentation, which took the form of a silver watch and chain, suitably inscribed, was made by Mr S Churchill,, who referred in complimentary terms to Mr Carson's undoubted abilities as a manager, and to the high regard in which he was held by the men. Mr Oarson was also presented with a framed photograph of the athletic team connected with the mine, and Mr T Wheeler, who made the presentation, also spoke highly of the recipient's many good qualities.
