Football Notes.

—« :o: ALEXANDRA V UPPER CLUTHA

The above teams met on the Cromwell ground on Saturday last, the game resulting in a win for Upper Olutha by 7pts to nil. Tn the first spell Varcoe scored for Upper Clutha, but the try was not enhanced. At the end of the second spell, T. Oahill secured a mark in front of Alexandra's goal, from which he kicked a goal.

The Alexandra team were at a disadvantage in not having their best team on the field, and the back division was in consequence somewhat disorganised. The Alexandra forwards more than held their own in the tight work, but the fast open work of the Upper Olutha boys brought out the strong defensive capabilities of the visitors. Mr King, of Cromwell, acted as referee to the entire satisfaction of both teams. The return match, which will be played shortly, should prove interesting. The Alexandra and Limerick teams meet at Alexandra on Saturday next. The following players will represent Alexandra :—Full back, Campbell; three quarters, Mason, Todd, Maitland ; five-eights, Richardson, W King Cameron ; forwards, E King, Bruce, Jackson, Wheeler, Riley, Kitto (2), Theyers; emergencies, W Paul, H Jackson.
