Small Bird Nuisance.
At the meetin» of delegates from the local bodies in Bruce, Vincent, and Tuapeka Counties held at Miltcn last Thursday, in connection with the small birds nuisance, the following resolutions were passed:— " That the delegates present regret that so few representatives from the various local bodies included in the Middle Otago district were present to discuss such an important subject as the small birds nuisance." "That the Governor be asked to include also the thrush, blackbird, and starling as injurious birds under the Act." " That the methods of poisoning to be adopted were the use of phosphorised oats, wheat, turnip, or rape seed poisoned by strychnine." " That this Conference ask the Agricultural Depar:ment to make extensive experiments as to the best methods to be used in dealing with the small birds nuisance, the best grains that were to be used, and the best modes of laying the poison to be effective."
It was also agreed to fix the date of poisoning to begin on July 1 in each year.
