Volunteer Notes.

[By » Lyddite."] The competition for Mr Noes' silver cup was completed last Saturday, when Private Brown was returned the winner. The conditions were seven shots at 300, 500, and 600 yds, with an optional fighter at each range ; three competitions, the best two scores out of three matches to count. Subjoined are the principal scorers:

The annual course of volley firing will take place on the range to-day and on Saturday next, commencing at 2.30 p.m. sharp. As many volunteer? as can attend to-day, are requested to do so. It will not take long to get through the course, as only one rangis fired at—viz., 500yds—so tbat men who are on the afternoon shift will be able to fire their rounds, and be in time for their work. I would like to see our own corps come out on top in tbis course, as a certain sum of money is to be divided between the Otago Central Corps for volley firing.
