The colony was established in 1820, says the New York Herald, and consists at present of about 500 persons. It is situated in the districts of Brest-Litovak and Kovel, and tbua is partly under the jurisdiction of the government of Grodno and partly under tha"t of The government of Volhynia. Ten large farms cover the territory occupied by the colonists. y .-- These Dutchmen are called "Hollanders" by their Russian neighbors. They arc of the same physical typeas the Bor rs and their mode of life t» exactly similar. They wear the same traditional hat; they spend most of their spare time reading the Bible and they are distinguished for their great honesty and their love of work. They admire the Russians and hate the English just a« bitterly aa the Roers hat* them. Their houae* are built of stone and they hare an abuhdanoe of cattle. men till the soil and the. women attend to the dairy. They live frugally, indulging. in n.o intoxicating drink except beer, and, as the land is good, they hare never known poverty. In the struggles of their countrymen in South! A fries they take a keen interest and they are prepared to give a heart]*, welcome to any of the Boaro who may desire to settle near them.
