Dunstan District Hospital.
The usual monthly meeting of the trustees was held at Clyde on Friday, 16th inst., at 8 p.m. Present—Messrs ■P. Jeffery, 0. 0. Hutton, H. Edser, B, Naylor junr,, James Wilson, and E. M'Manus. The secretary said this beiag the first meeting of the year it was necessary to appoint a chairman. Mr Jeffery being alone nominated was declared unanimously elected. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Inward correspondence was read f roni Dr Hyde, asking for leave of absence for a week to visit Lake Wanaka, and from T. G. Wilson, late patient, asking for time for payment of dues. Resolved—That leave of absence be granted to Dr Hyde for one week, conditionally that Dr Gregg acted as locum Unma. The visiting committee reported everything in and about the Institution to be satisfactory, except the garden which was in need of better attention, and made a requisition for new sheeting and other bedding, &c. The secretary stated that the expenditure for bedding for the past year was only 14s. The report was received, the matter of the garden was left over for consideration at a future date, and the requisition for sheeting, &c., granted. The surgeon's report as follows was read and received :—No. of patients in hospital Ist December, 3; since admitted, 3 ; discharged, 3; died (Jas. Hutchings) 1; remaining in hospital Is January, 2. The patients admitted were: one from Alexandra, one from Moutere, and one from Earnscleugh Flat; paying patients, one; and payments by same 7s 6d. The treasurer's report showing a credit balance on Ist inst., £l2l 16s, and liabilities £l5B 14s Id, including £IOO on account contract for surgeon's residence, and £SB 14s Id'accounts for month of December, was read and received. Messrs Hutton and M'Manus were appointed members of the visiting committee, the chairman and treasurer being members by virtue of their office* Mr H. Edser was appointed treasurer.
