I VINCENT JOCKEY CLD.B. The aiiunal oieetrug of che above ; Ciub was he d on the Matakaniii Park i Reserve last Thursday and Friday, and, ias usual, was a pronounced success. The weather was good on both days, and the attendance was consequently very large, especially on the second day, when the gate-keepers put up a record. The racing, on the whole, was excellent, there being many close and exciting finishes. The sum of £2369 was put through the machine—£los9 on the first day and £1337 on the second day—as against a total of £2255 last yeaV. SPORTING NOTES. The « Wakatip Mail" says :—As a result of the late unsuccessful annual meeting of the Lake Oounty Jockey Olub, several meetings of the Club have been held in the Secretary's office, to consider the financial position. It was found that there was a considerable deficit after the two days' racing, mainly through the large filling off of investment on the totalisator, from which the vlub has hitherto derived considerable revenue. Notwithstanding the straitened state of the finances, the club has decided to carry on, one or two of its members coming forward manfully with liberal subscriptions towards the deficit. A levy will shortly be made on the stewards to make up the deficiency.
