To-day's Sports.

The aunual sports to be held to-day under the auspices of the Alexandra Caledonian Society ' promise to be a great success, and given, fine weather a most enjoyable day's sport may be anticipated. We learn that there will be extensive entries in the various running events, which will be well worth witnessing; whilst the other events also will doubtless elicit keen competition. Numerous entries are promised for , the pony races, which events caused a good deal of excitement last year,, and we, can be sure that*in these races there will be no "stiff" running, The Alexandra Brass Band will be in attendance, and a number of pipers will also be present, "' • The committee have had the running track put in first-class order; and seating accommodation will be provided on the ground for ladies. In ithe evening, a concert and dance wUlJbe«held in the town hall. A firstclass programme has been prepared for the concert, all the leading local talent having signified their willingness to assist, and, altogether, it may be" said that every provision has been made to allow of the Society's patrons spending New Year's Day right joyously.
