The Herald. Alexandra, Thursday, Dec. 25, 1902. CHRISTMAS, 1902.

I As we go to press this week, the ! chiming of the midnight hour betokens the dawn of another Ohristmastide—the nineteen hundred and second anniversary of that &reat and memorable event in the earth's history,, when the angels sang the divine message, " Peace on earth, goodwill toWaid men." It is pleasing, at this time, to reflect that the lurid war-cloud in South Africa, which, for the three preceding anniversaries, cast a shadow over the brightness of Ohristmastide, has happily been dispelled ; and the reflections of those imbued with the spirit of the angels' song will not, on this occasion, be tinged with Sadness at the tittught of hardships beiag euduw! *#

oar kith and kin on tbo bloodstained i veldt across the sea. The anniversary of the Advent makes a fresh demand upon our generous instincts—wrongs inflicted and wrongs received should be forgiven and forgotten bitter neee, anger, selfishness and revengeful feelings should be put aside and obliterated —a year's accumulation of uncharitable 1 actions nay now skulk out of eight in the presence of God's unspeakable gift, and the anniversary of His message of "goodwill to men." On such an auspicious occasion we hold out the hand of goodfellowship to the reader© of the HiißAin—to every spinster and bachelor; to every wife and husband ; i to all romping girls and reey-cheeked boys—to one and all we extend the season's greetings. A Mzbxt GkbikMas to you all.
