Mr Churchill Sees King —Mr Churchill' to-night paid a. private visit to His Majesty at Buckingham Palace. The court correspondent says that precautions were taken in advance to keep the visit secret and the fact that the visit was described officially as “private”, may be taken as a sign that undue political significance does not attach to it. The correspondent says, however: “Mr Churchill is the Opposi-' tion leader, and it is unusual for the Opposition leader to be received in audience by the Sovereign just after an election except when there is a change of government. In this case it is believed His Majesty wished to discuss the implications of the Parliamentary situation with Mr Chui’chill.” j
Sjextuplets Reported —Brussels radio reports that a native woman in the Belgian Congo has given birth to sextuplets. The radio said the mother and six babies were well.
Record Snooker Break. —Joe Davis, who is regarded as the world’s champion snooker player, set a new world record break of 146 at Manchester in a match against the Canadian, George Chenier. Chenier last . month beat Davis’s earlier record of 141 with a break of 144. The new break by Davis, which is only one short of the maximum possible, was made up of 14 blacks, one pink, 15 reds and all the colours.
