Mr Churchill Sees King —Mr Churchill' to-night paid a. private visit to His Majesty at Buckingham Palace. Record Snooker Break. —Joe Davis, who is regarded as the world’s champion snooker player, set a new world record break of 146 at Manchester in a match against the Canadian, George Chenier. Chenier last . month beat Davis’s earlier record of 141 with a break of 144. The new break by Davis, which is only one short of the maximum possible, was made up of 14 blacks, one pink, 15 reds and all the colours.
