TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (From the “Guardian,” Mar. 2, 1925). Dry Spell—The dry spell of the last week or two has had the effect - of greatly drying up the countryside, and the fresh green appearance of the. fields of a month ago has given place to parched brown, that pervades anything. Acres of waving brown grass may be seem in all directions about the country at the present time Allenton School: A tender for the proposed new gates for the Allenton School was accepted by the committee last night. The gates will be erected across the south-Avest corner of the grounds, from Winter’s Road to Allen’s Road. The tenderers accepted Avere Messrs Tuckers Ltd. There Avere present at the meeting Messrs R. Huston (chairman), H. L. Barker, H. McConnell, E. C. Bathurst, C. Armstrong, J. Osborne, and A. Drayton.
