FINE AND SUNNY The weather in Ashburton to-day is fine and sunny with warm temperatures. Although the atmosphere last evening had a decided nip, no frost was recorded. Recordings taken at‘ the Domain meteorological office at 9 o’clock this morning, and having reference to the previous 24 hours were: Maximum temperature 68.4 degrees, minimum 50.0 degrees, earth 61.6 degrees, barometer 29.97 inches. The Government Meteorologist,. at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: General situation: There is a deep depression south of New Zealand. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: — . Moderate north-westerly winds, turning temporarily south-westerly this evening: a few showers following the wind change, but weather otherwise fair to fine and warm to-day, rather cooler to-morrow. WEATHER FOR MONTH NORTHERLY WINDS PREDOMINANT The feature qf the 'weather in Ashburton during February was the predominance of northerly winds.
