SOLDIER THROWS TIN INTO SEA ATHENS. Outward bound Horn Britain to Greece aboard the trooper Empire Test in July, Lance-Corporal Dennis Burns, of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, threw a tin into the' sea with the following note: “Empire Test, Troopship, Tuesday, July 19, 1949, bound for Greece from Liverpool. Mr Dennis Burns, 25 Kirkview Avenus, Slasburgli via Motherwell, Scotland. Answer to the address above.” Lance-Corporal Burns has now received a letter sent on from Scotland enclosing a message from Spain. The message which was written in Spanish said: “Dear Unknown, I have the pleasure to send you your address met in the vicinity of Calahonda (Spain) in very strang circumstances. I am very fond of fishing and being on board a submarine this summer I had the magnificent occasion to catch a cod of big dimensions. With grea t surprise I found in his stomach the tin that contained your agreeable bandwriting. 1 hurry on sending you a lovable salute from a Spaniard who is very fond of the sea and likes good sport at the same time. I am at your disposal as a friend.” —Reuter.
